Consumer Narrative

XX/XX/2022 To whom it may concern, One evening, a little over two and a half years ago, I sat down at my desk and started going over my Citibank credit card invoice. I was shocked to see charges on this card, about {$9000.00} worth, that I had not authorized and that I knew nothing about. Contacted Citibank post-haste and informed them of these fraudulent charges they said they would investigate and get back to me. At that time I wasn't particularly concerned because I knew that Citibank had a policy of not charging card holders for fraudulent and criminal behavior. I also studied this fraud and found that they used a device called a " square '' that you could use and only have the card in their possession the first time of use. A few months later I got a letter stating that they would not honor the fraud policy in my case and considered it a " business dispute '' .The only thing that they could misconstrue as a business dispute was the fact that I at one time had considered buying this auto repair shop but I had decided against it very early in the negotiations and I barely knew the shop 's owners. The only way I felt I would get fair treatment by Citibank was to stop paying their bills and compel them to sue me so that I could get this situation in front of an impartial and fair magistrate to get Citibank to do as they had promised and cover this obvious fraud. Sometime later they sent my folder to a collection agency and by the end of the call, a supervisor told me they were going to ship my file back and not take it and if he was he would sue Citibank for criminal behavior. In the meantime every few months Citibank would send me a letter indicating that the issue was still being investigated and that a conclusion would be forthcoming, This has never happened and still I wait. Please understand when I started on this debacle my XXXX credit score was XXXX and I believe that I hadn't been late on a payment in about 40 years. Recently I tried to refinance my home and was turned down flat a direct result of Citibank 's reporting of this unfinished situation. Recently I calculated my loss because of this to be in the tens of thousands of dollars this does not include three stress-related XXXX XXXX that may or may not be attributed partially to this situation. This problem has now been going on for years with no end in sight. Can anyone there help me? maybe by referring me to an attorney that would take this on a contingency basis or reasonable payments. I truly need somebodies help. Please can you help me? Thank you for listening, XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX CA XXXX
