Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/XXXX both my wallets were stolen out of my car and retrieved by the local Police Department on XX/XX/XXXX. I was able to get all my credit cards back from the evidence dept on XX/XX/XXXX. I called XXXX XXXX to replace all my cards, but I didn't do it for the rest of my cards from different credit card companies. Months went by until XX/XX/XXXX when I realized someone had used my Chase card and that's exactly when I called it in for fraudulent charges. The charges for {$6300.00} were credited only to be billed back on XX/XX/XXXX. I called Chase Fraud Department either on XX/XX/XXXX or XXXX and received a call back on XX/XX/XXXX. They stated that all my charges on my card were valid and that I am responsible for the charges. They closed the fraud claim and assured that this claim was researched thoroughly. The fraudulent charges were made roughly XXXX miles away where I work at the XXXX XXXX daily from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX. I submitted journal entries as part of my job as a notary public for California to show that I have to be physically present in front of a customer to offer the notary service. I also submitted delivery invoice that I have to sign whenever a vendor driver delivers supplies to the store. The other submission that I have are print outs of tracking number of packages that we received in our store that were signed by me. I can submit more proof that I was not present and my card was not inserted when all these charges occurred. I have the card in question still originally sealed from the Police Department. I might be wrong but I don't think any credit card reader can read chip with plastic covering the whole card. I notified Chase immediately within the 60 days when the error appeared on my statement. Chase insisted that most of the charges were chip transactions that can't be fraud. I strongly believe these charges ( transaction date from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX ) are unauthorized. I can't possibly be in two different locations XXXX miles away physically at the same time. If there's only one card, I have it in my possession the whole time with the original seal from the police department. Chase claimed the charges were chip transactions. This mean someone was able to duplicate/ skim the card and use it without my permission. I am not responsible for these fraudulent charges. I will pay for the charges occurred from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX transaction date because these are my purchases.
