Consumer Narrative
Lets say my credit limit is $ XXXX. I make a charge for $ XXXX. I then immediately pay the full amount. There are no other charges. Chase says my available credit is now XXXX ( actually XXXX ) because my payment is large and so is on hold. I confirmed this with four different customer service reps. If I hadnt paid at all, my available credit would be $ XXXX. If my bank canceled the payment for whatever reason ( i.e. the reason the payment is " on hold '' ), my available credit would still be $ XXXX. This makes no sense, and I am unable to use my credit card because I paid it early.
