Consumer Narrative
I received a garnishment of my medical set aside on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX so that I would not be able to contact the debt collector until Monday XX/XX/XXXX. This might be okay for the average person but I have XXXX and XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX and finding out that someone has stolen over {$5000.00} of a medical set aside when I am on XXXX and XXXX is devastating even causing more serious medical issues. Please help me. I do not know what to do. On XX/XX/XXXX I called to follow up on the previous information I submitted to CFPB, in doing so I found out there were 5 different collections company. It started with XXXX XXXX XXXX dating back to XXXX. The account was closed in XXXX and sold to the first debt collector, XXXX XXXX. Following XXXX XXXX, it was sold to another company XXXX, for the amount {$2200.00}. They received a judgment for that amount dated XX/XX/XXXX. There is also another company involved XXXX XXXX XXXX. I spoke to XXXX, the third company, yesterday and they could not understand why it was not settled. The last was company Kirshenbaum Phillips & Levy. There was a XXXX XXXX XXXX that worked for XXXX XXXX, and now works for Kirshenbaum Phillips & Levy. This person could be dealing with the debts from back XXXX and this could be personal I am not sure. This debt dates back 16 years and it has been held by 5 different debt collection companies. There was a recent law that passed and changed the amount of interest debt collectors could get from individuals from 9 % to 2 or 3 %.
