Consumer Narrative

Chase has predatory practices when it comes to overdraft fees and insufficient funds. While most banks will allow you to stop overdrafts by declining charges that come through when you do not have the funds to cover it, chase continues to allow it to occur. I have requested with representatives numerous times to not allow this, however it has continued to occur. Additionally, if multiple items come through at the same time, you will be charged a fee for each individual item, instead of a fee for the occurrence. Which is also extremely predatory. For example, say I had {$80.00} and bought {$80.00} in groceries, say another transaction posts before this for {$150.00}. I will be charged two fees instead of one had my intended charge came through as expected. Normally I understand overdraft fees are due to the individual not having enough funds, but the way it is practiced with chase is to take advantage of the consumer. At this point I have over {$500.00} in fees they refuse to waive. As this is almost a paycheck for me, their practices will just continue to snowball my account. Additionally their customer service refuses to help in any regard, no over draft protection and refuse to waive fees. Choose to bank elsewhere that has better account protection.
