I had an AARP XXXX Credit Card from Chase Card Services ( account # XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) for many years through to XX/XX/2021 XXXX which time AARP advised that they were transferring their accounts from Chase Card Services to XXXX XXXX XXXX through XXXX. On XX/XX/2021 I mailed a check payment ( XXXX XXXX XXXX check # XXXX ) to Chase for the current statement for existing balance in the amount of {$350.00} I tracked the payment so that I would have a XXXX outstanding credit balance at the time the account was to be transferred to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2021. When I called Chase on the statement closing date of XX/XX/2021 the automated account information stated that no payment was recorded and that my balance was due. With this information, I wrote another check ( XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX ) to pay the {$350.00} balance in person at a Chase Bank branch. I didn't stop payment on the original check # XXXX which I thought would " cross '' the account and the check would be returned to me. This didn't happen. What happened is that my XXXX bank statement arrived by mail mid XX/XX/2021 showing that check # XXXX payable to Chase Card Services cleared my bank on XX/XX/2021. I began calling Chase customer service XXXX and was repeatedly told they did not have any credit card account under my name or account number and referred me to XXXX. XXXX was not able to help. Their account information was that I had a XXXX credit balance transferred from Chase on XX/XX/2021. I had tried to find the way to file a complaint sooner but could not get the correct website information. Today I called the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX number and was able to get a representative who gave me the information for Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I want to have my duplicate payment returned in the amount of {$350.00}. I would appreciate your help.
