Approximately XXXX I applied for a Citibank Costco Credit Card. My request was denied an I was told I would receive a letter in about 7 days. XX/XX/XXXX. 2022 I received a letter outlining the reasons for denial. Based on their letter and indication that it was based on my XXXX credit report, I checked my report. The initial reasons they cited in the letter were NOT accurate. XX/XX/2022. After reviewing their email and reading their letter i attempted to call them, at the number they provided. The number was an AUTOMATED SYSTEM that did not offer an opportunity to speak with a live person. After approximately XXXX mins of trying to speak to someone the person that answered transferred me BACK to the automated system. I didnt have time to deal with it so I set it aside. Later the same day I again attempted to contact them to speak with a live person. Again, it took XXXX minutes of fighting with the automated system to be transferred to a live person. I prefaced the call with the fact that their automated system was horrible. They did transfer me to another live person. That person was very nice but couldn't seem to grasp the reason I was complaining and that pulling another credit report would be a waste of time because their explanation did NOT match what was on my credit report. Additionally, had they made it clear that XXXX derogatory remark on the credit report, regardless of the reason, the application would be denied, I wouldn't have applied for the card. Additionally, I have a FRAUD ALERT on my credit reports. Most legitimate requests for credit applications are followed up by a phone call to verify my identity and to verify I personally submitted the application. They didn't do that. How do they know it wasn't a fraudulent request?
