On XXXX XXXX, XXXX a fraudulent charge of {$2200.00} was made on our Chase XXXX XXXX account ending in XXXX. The charge was for XXXX XXXX. My wife and I became aware of the charge several days later and contacted Chase. Chase cancelled the card and issued a new one ending in XXXX. Chase opened a fraud investigation into the matter. All seemed well until XX/XX/XXXX when the fraudulent charge was reinstated by Chase on the new account for the XXXX This was very alarming as we did not make the purchase nor have we used XXXX XXXX in recent years. When contacted, Chase guided us to Fraud Recovery and the employee indicated that the investigation did indeed show I made the purchase. When asked for proof they could or would NOT produce it. I took the matter up to management level and they reopened the investigation whereupon we were informed that they reinstated the charge a second time as I did make it. I confronted them again and they have been evasive and uncooperative and again failed to produce any evidence of the charge saying they couldn't reach XXXX. Surprising as I did relatively easily and XXXX opened a fraud investigation and could not find evidence that I made the purchase. On XX/XX/XXXX after heated discussions, a representative contacted me saying that we would be credited for the amount but a two search search of our statement shows the charge is still there. We are angered and dismayed as we did NOT make the purchase and further have no evidence of any kind on our end that we ever purchased anything from XXXX in the last few years. How can I prove a negative? Per FTC guidance we did send a certified letter to Chase demanding their proof. We await their response.
