Consumer Narrative
Timetable In XX/XX/XXXX Chase mailed us a new replacement credit card for our current one that would be expiring soon. Chase acknowledges there was no notification it was being sent to us via first class mail. We were unaware of the issuing of the replacement card until we received our Chase Credit Card Statement for the period XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. On the above-mentioned statement, I saw multiple charges that I knew werent mine, as each of them occurred outside our area in XXXXXXXX XXXX ( See attached Chase statement ). It defies all logic as to why I would go to a faraway XXXX XXXX, for instance, ( among other fraudulent charges ) rather than to the locations near us, as I have done in the past. These locations include XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Despite the distant locations, Chase was repeatedly insistent that these were valid transactions simply because the card was swiped, and they wouldnt acknowledge the fact that if we never received the card in the first place, someone else was swiping it elsewhere. Every fraudulent charge occurred after the mailing of this replacement for our original card. EVERY ONE OF THESE CHARGES occurred between the time Chase mailed this card ( which we never received ) and the time of receipt of the statement that reflected these charges. When I initially reported these fraudulent charges, I was asked by a Chase representative if I had ever received this card. I informed this representative that I had not. When I inquired if the replacement card had a new expiration date embedded in the chip, they did not have an answer. Each fraudulent charge was made with the new replacement card. I was issued a new card ( which we currently use ), which I activated on XX/XX/XXXX. Despite multiple phone calls the Chase Fraud Department, they refused to acknowledge that these claims were fraudulent. To quote their resolution : Our latest review confirms the previous finding that the transactions were valid. ( See attached correspondence from Chase Fraud Dept. ) Please note : in this correspondence they do not acknowledge : a. We never received the card that was swiped for these charges b. That the fraudulent charges all occurred since they mailed out the card to replace the soon to be expiring card c. That these locations are far away from us including XXXX XXXX around the country d. We were in XXXX at the time of these out of state expenses, as shown by other charges on the card.
