On XX/XX/2022, I recieved a text message that purported to be from Chase verifying whether I had authorized a {$2000.00} XXXX deposit. It looked like a legitimate text so I texted back " no. '' I received a call back and the individual said that they were from Chase 's fraud department. The fraudster walked me through steps to cancel the XXXX transaction. He had me send the {$2000.00} to my own phone number to prevent the money from being taken. I figured what harm could it do since it said the money was going to me. It dawned on me that this was an unusual call so I hung up the phone and called Chase to verify. The Chase representative said that he saw the transaction but that no money would leave my account because " I caught it in time. '' He also called me fortunate for catching it. Minutes after I hung up from Chase, {$2000.00} was transferred from my Chase account to the scammer via XXXX. I filed a claim with Chase who promised to review the matter in a timely fashion. They said I would hear back in 10 days but when that 10 days came and went I called Chase who indicated that the claim was denied.
