Rocket Mortgage forced me to pay PMI and told me they would remove that once I hit the 80 % equity mark. In order to remove this they make you call them so they can " calculate '' if you meet the requirements. Even though the monthly statements tell when you've met the requirements they won't remove it until you've hit 78 % mark. This PMI for to XXXX XXXX, who requires this as an insurance, even though they are the ones who defaulted in 2008, not me. I had spoken to Rocket Mortgage previously and was apparently not quite at the 80 % mark. I think I was half a % off. They did NOT count this as a request to remove. I called today and they put me through so many phone tree options tht it can be seen as a tactic to dissuade customers from calling to remove the PMI. I presses a phone tree option 23 times before I got a default operator whom I had to beg to send me to the PMI rep. They purposely make it difficult to get this removed and this " insurance '' if you can call it that goes directly to the XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX account, for doing nothing. Hundreds of thousands of dollars through this scam. I should be able to get a refund on my PMI for when I met the 80 % mark, especially since the insurance did nothing for me and certainly did not protect me from anything. It also did not provide any service.
