I recently lived in an apartment complex where Id signed a 6 month lease. I paid all 6 months up front. At the end of my lease I turned in the keys and moved out and all was well. A month after moving out I received a letter from IQ Data international saying I owed the apartment complex money. The letter from IQ said to write them in 30 days to dispute the debt and request validation. I did just that and sent them mail overnight to ensure it got there before the 30 day mark. A month went by and I never heard from them. All of a sudden I get a notice that a collection had been added to my credit report. It was from IQ data international. I wrote them again and called them asking for validation of the debt. Over the phone they told me they dont send anything in the mail, despite the fact that I got their contact info from something they sent me in the mail. I asked both over the phone and once again in writing for a validation of the debt and they have still not provided that information to me. I have disputed it with the credit bureaus and they seem to have no trouble communicating with them, but they have made no effort to try to validate this debt with me or allow me to dispute it or verify it. This is against the law.
