A charge appeared on XX/XX/XXXX on my statement for {$220.00} from a company called XXXX. They are a delicatessen near where I work where I often get a salad and soup for lunch. They are a high volume place around lunchtime and just cycle you through without giving a receipt. They just take your card and run it. When I saw the charge I informed Citibank that the charge was incorrect. They deigned my dispute because : " We have reviewed the information you provided regarding your dispute. Without a valid credit slip, we are unable to intervene on your behalf with the merchant or their bank. '' By that standard, I would still be responsible if they had input {$22000.00} instead. I can't prove a negative. The merchant, however does have a cash register record and could see if a {$220.00} charge occurred or not. They won't even contact the merchant to see if they dispute the charge.
