Consumer Narrative
Based on prior conversations and information posted on the FedLoan Servicing website, I was advised that consolidation of Direct Consolidation student loans and Direct Parent Plus loans would result in resetting the PSLF qualifying payment count to zero. On XX/XX/XXXX I submitted a PSLF application without consolidating my two Direct Consolidation loans with my Direct Parent Plus loans. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter stating that I was not eligible yet to receive forgiveness. A representative from FedLoan Servicing informed me that the payment count was not reflecting the Limited PSLF waiver update and also advised me not to consolidate the Direct Consolidation loans with the Direct Parent Plus loans. On XX/XX/XXXX I received forgiveness on the two Direct Consolidation loans. On XX/XX/XXXX, the Department of Education posted on their studentaid.gov website the following information : " Under the limited waiver your consolidation loans will receive credit for time in repayment on your loans with different counts. Your consolidation loan will be credited with at least the largest number of payments on the loans that were consolidated. '' Shortly after XX/XX/XXXX, it was confirmed by a consolidation specialist at FedLoan Servicing that I would have received forgiveness on all on my loans had I consolidated prior to submitting the PSLF application.
