On the morning of XX/XX/22, I received an email from Credit Karma informing me that my TJ Maxx bill ( managed by Synchrony Bank XXXX had gone derogatory and was 60 days late. That same day, I received a notice in the mail from Synchrony bank dated XX/XX/22 saying that, " We recently attempted to notify you that your electronic TJX Rewards Platinum Mastercard statement was ready to view, but the email was returned. '' This was the first time I was made aware that I had a balance due of {$89.00} in XXXX. I have never been late on a payment on this account and I have not changed my email, mailing address or phone number within the last 12 months. Additionally, there were no phone calls or text attempts made letting me know my payment was originally due or when it became late. This has now significantly affected my credit score and I am extremely concerned by Synchrony 's business practices. According to the Card Act, a payment can not be considered late unless the statement was mailed or delivered to the customer at least 21 days before the due date. If Synchrony was unable to deliver the statement via email, I would of expected to receive the statement via mail or a phone call to ensure they meet this section of the Card Act. After speaking to Synchrony Bank last night to notify them of this situation, Customer Service was unable to confirm if any attempts were made to let me know that the payment was due.
