Consumer Narrative

XX/XX/XXXX I received a text message at XXXX a.m. from Chase Card Services notifying me that my card had been declined for a {$90.00} charge for XXXX. The text asked me to confirm whether I had made the charge. I responded, " no, '' when I woke up at XXXX a.m. See the attached screenshot of this text message exchange. I immediately opened the Chase app and saw a number of other charges I did not recognize : XXXX XXXX : {$54.00} at XXXX store # XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$5.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$130.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$160.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$14.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$80.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$9.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX : {$3.00} at XXXX These charges total {$460.00}. See attached screenshots for proof of all charges. Please note that the charges were reversed, and then added back to my account after Chase denied my claim, so some show as credits. All of these credits have been added back to my account as of XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I immediately reported all of these charges to Chase as fraudulent. XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from Chase notifying me that my fraud claim was denied. XX/XX/XXXX I called Chase 's customer service line to request information about why my fraud claim was denied. The customer service representative I spoke with that day said the charges were found to be similar to my usual spending patterns. The customer service representative also told me that Chase had been told by XXXX that at least one of the XXXX charges in dispute came from the account of a person named XXXX XXXX for a ride in the XXXX XXXX area. I appealed Chase 's decision and supplied some more information. I supplied Chase with my XXXX trip history, which shows I have not taken an XXXX ride since XXXX of XXXX, as well as flight information that showed I was in XXXX, Nebraska from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX, a range of dates that includes the time all of these fraudulent charges were made. This means I could not have taken any XXXX rides in the XXXX XXXX area. This also proves I could not have made the XXXX charge, as XXXX XXXX # XXXX is in XXXX XXXX, Illinois. My flight record shows I was in Nebraska on XXXX XXXX, and could not have used my card in XXXX XXXX, Illinois at that time. Evidence that I was not responsible for the charges listed in this complaint : XXXX : The Chase credit card statement ( attached ) shows the charge was made at XXXX # XXXX on XXXX XXXX. I have attached a screenshot from the XXXX website showing that XXXX # XXXX is located in XXXX XXXX, Illinois. I have also provided a flight receipt from XXXX XXXX showing I was in XXXX, Nebraska, from XXXX XXXX. As further proof, the attached statement from Chase shows that I made a purchase at a Hy-Vee store in XXXX on XXXX XXXX. I was not in Illinois and could not physically have made a purchase from a XXXX there on XXXX XXXX. Target.com : I have attached my account history showing all the purchases I made in XXXX. I have also attached my Chase account history for XXXX purchases. You will see that the last purchase I made from XXXX was placed and processed on my Chase card on XXXX XXXX. That means the charges made after that, for {$5.00} and {$130.00} on XXXX XXXX, were not made from my account. XXXX : I have attached my XXXX trip history, which shows I have not taken an XXXX ride since XXXX of XXXX. I have also attached my XXXX history, which shows I did not order from the app during the month of XXXX, XXXX. Chase has told me that at least XXXX of the XXXX charges on my card was for a ride in the XXXX XXXX area. My XXXX XXXX flight receipt shows I was not in XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX.
