On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notification from credit monitoring services stating that SYNCB/XXXX had done a hard credit check against my XXXX credit report. I had not requested any credit from Synchrony Bank or XXXX XXXX, so this clearly constituted fraudulent activity. On the morning of XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Synchrony Bank by calling ( XXXX ) XXXX to report that I had not requested that any credit account be opened in my name. The customer agent told me that there was no record on file of any application for credit under my social security number. Also on the morning of XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted XXXX at ( XXXX ) XXXX to dispute the credit check and report fraudulent activity. The XXXX representative made a note on my file, but told me that Synchrony Bank would have to request that the credit checks be removed from my credit reports. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from Synchrony Bank saying that there was indeed an attempt to open a credit card in my name, but that the attempt was rejected due to an inability to verify my identity. This contradicts the information provided to me by the customer representative on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent a letter to Synchrony Bank ( see attachment ) requesting that the hard credit check be removed from my credit report. I have not heard any response. As of XX/XX/XXXX, the hard pull is still showing on my credit report, adversely affecting my score.
