Consumer Narrative
was contacted to purchase goods that I was selling on XXXX. XXXX contacted me via email that he was interested & then sent a text from XXXX. He then contacted me from the number listed below telling me that he was sending a check for {$3000.00} to purchase the goods I was selling & pay to ship. I informed him on XX/XX/XXXX when the check arrived & he asked me to deposit & wire the remainder of the money to the movers. I deposited into my Savings account & transferred what I charged for the goods, {$250.00}, & the rest needed to send the movers into my Checking account. I sent 3 wire transactions totaling {$2500.00} using XXXX ( XXXX to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX for {$1000.00} ; XXXX to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX for {$500.00} ). After the final wire on XX/XX/XXXX, I checked my Savings account & it was negative for {$3000.00}. I contacted XXXX & asked him about his bank, & he said there must be some mistake. I followed up with him after I left work that evening & his phone was disconnected. After contacting USAA informing them of the situation, they did an investigation & found no fraud. I sent them screenshots of the conversation, the individuals address, & who the wire transfers went to. I received notification from them on XX/XX/XXXX & now my accounts are locked & I have no way to pay my bills.
