Consumer Narrative

Date : XX/XX/2022 To : Chase Bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, VA From : XXXX XXXX Subject : Check from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I am writing this letter to obtain funds that are in a closed Chase Bank Account. I deposited a check in the amount of {$3000.00} from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NC XXXX Into a Chase Account which has now been closed and the bank will not refund the amount of {$3000.00} I was told by a teller at the XXXX XXXX if my Mom came into the bank with 2 forms of identification, the check would be mailed back to her. On Friday, XX/XX/2022, my mother, XXXX XXXX, and I jointly visited the Chase Bank on XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX My mother presented the two forms of identification and was told she could not receive the check because the bank was not able to verify its authenticity. We were given a toll-free Chase telephone number to call. Upon calling the XXXX Chase telephone number we were provided the following information : The representative informed us that the check was being mailed to my mother at her home address, wait for 8 to 10 days to receive it. After not receiving the check within the 10-day window, another call was placed to Chase. During this call, we were told that XXXX XXXX XXXX would need someone from their bank in North Carolina to come to a Chase Bank to verify the validity of the check. We explained that this is the Electric Company in the State of North Carolina, and they are almost three hours from XXXX, VA. The other option given was to have XXXX XXXX XXXX bank request the funds which would be difficult to do since this was a grant-funded project. Another call was placed with the Chase XXXX number on XX/XX/2022. During that call we were told the XXXX XXXX XXXX does not appear to be a legitimate company and we are unable to get the money back, however, the check will probably be turned over to the State of North Carolina as unclaimed and we would need to check that website. This is a very difficult situation and the funds are needed to pay outstanding debts. Attached is a letter from the agency that dispersed the funds. Every time we reach out to someone on the XXXX telephone number, we spend about 2 hours waiting for a representative to come on the phone. This has caused hardship during a pandemic when all of my mothers expenses are continuing to mount up because the money continues to be frozen in an account at Chase. Please help us to resolve this matter without me contacting XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX for assistance. I can be reached at XXXX or XXXX. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
