I was approved for a Citi Cash card to help pay down my debt. I transferred {$2900.00} from a balance transfer to this Citi Cash card due to I only have a {$3000.00} limit on the card. I only have 4 months from the date I opened the card to get {$0.00} finance charge on balance transfers. On XX/XX/22 I made a {$1000.00} payment to my Citi Cash card. They withdrew the {$1000.00} from my checking account on XX/XX/22. My account shows a balance of {$1900.00} but I only had {$0.00} in available credit. I wanted to use that {$1000.00} to make another balance transfer. When I called Citibank on XX/XX/22 about my available balance they told me the payment was on hold for verification. When I asked why, I was told its because I made a large payment. I requested to speak to a supervisor and asked him when will it reflect in my available credit and he said XX/XX/XXXX. I asked where in the contract does it state they were going to hold my money and he told me on page 3 and then he hung up on me. Theres nothing anywhere in the contract about verification holds. I called back the following day at a different time and was told the same thing that my payment was on hold for verification so I asked him where does it say they can do that in the contract and he said it isnt written its just something they tell people over the phone. I understand what a verification hold is but no one could tell me why it takes 10 days to release the hold. They now have {$1000.00} of my money and I have nothing to show for it. I cant do another balance transfer until after my other credit card payment due date. I believe they are holding it to whittle down the time they gave me for the interest free balance transfer which is why I chose their credit card in the first place.
