Consumer Narrative
Older adult students are being punished in the XXXX program. Periods of time that we are employed at a XXXX qualified employer while going to graduate school and making payments on our undergrad loans, we are not getting the credit for those payments. When the new XXXX waiver rules came out they said all payments would count. Now they have said its only while the loans were in repayment. I was told years ago that I did not have to take the loans out of repayment that I could keep paying on them anyway. I was also removed from XXXX for a period of time and told I would have to start over so I gave up until this waiver came out. This was after struggles where I asked to have the automatic in school deferment removed but it kept coming back. In addition, none of the payments made before I consolidated loans are being counted either. Lastly, if students who did not pay what they should have are getting their payments counted, why arent ours counted when we did pay?
