Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/2022 I called IQ Data International because I received a collection notice in the mail. The amount was due to moving out of an apartment and the final bill associated with the move out. I did not have the bill from the apartments so I was not able to see the itemized charges/or confirm the amount due. THis ( the collection notice ) was the fist mention of the charges to me. I recently moved ( obviously ) I asked the assigned agent to please provide to because I am unaware of the charges and wanted to know the itemized listing of the charges instead of being told it was " damages and utilities ''. Instead he got upset and proceeded to tell me its too late if I don't agree with the charges because I should have been at move-out inspection to refuse them. And some other stuff if I'm not paying about my willful invasion or something. I let him know I was unaware to be present at move-out to do so as I was told ( by the apartments personnel ) to just leave the keys and a bill will be sent. He said it was in my lease and continued that even if I don't agree with the amounts charged from the apartments it was too late to dispute them. So I said fine but I would still like to know what I am being charged for to make sure I agree with the amount. He refused and said he will not waste his time to do the extra work or get his manager to waste their time to provide itemization of the charges for someone with no intent to pay who will just hang up in the middle of the call. I intended to pay, hence I called. I just wanted to verify the amount being charged to make sure It was no extra fees and that was the actual amount from the original creditor because I've had experience of collectors adding unverified charges to consumer accounts. I thought it was a given right to know that information. So, I just said I will hang up because he was getting upset about something or maybe he was in a bad mood today. I don't know why, its not like I asked him for money. So I called back and was transferred to him again and politely asked to speak to someone else. I waited on hold then decided to hang up and call back because I wanted to get it resolved but also know that the amount is not inflated, especially since they were charging interest on the account. I called and asked to speak to anyone but the case person assigned to my account. They were friendly and I paid the amount because that was the whole point of calling and I didn't want more interest charges. She informed me I could pay and dispute the charge or something but I just wanted to verify the charged amount. I wasn't saying I disagreed or agree with the charge but I only wanted the amount confirmed and itemized so that I could know there were no extra charges in there from the debt collector aside form the interest charges I found out about today. I don't mind paying what I owe. I just want to know that I am paying for what I actually owe and that the charges are all mine. I was not given the opportunity to check.
