Signed up for a credit card with CareCredit ( which is Synchrony ) and was unaware that there would be a " Card Security '' fee every month. When speaking with " Card Security Services ''. I asked what the service actually did and they described it but failed to mention I'd be billed every month. Upon being told how the service worked I asked to terminate it and be refunded. They told me I would be ineligible for a refund on the fee if I cancelled. I said, " fine, whatever, just leave it on then '' and ended the call ( since I didn't know it was billed every month ). I found out I'd be billed monthly 30 minutes later and called back. On the second call the representative told me it had already been canceled on XX/XX/XXXX. This is not correct because they billed me on XX/XX/XXXX. They put me on hold and then came back and said " Actually we canceled it just now and have issued you a full refund '' and tried to get me off the phone. I asked who the representative who they worked for and the mood changed very quickly. They responded with " Card Security Services '' to which I replied " With Synchrony? '' and they were quiet and repeated " Card Security Services ''. I replied again, " Card Security Services, with Synchrony, right? '' and they reluctantly agreed. I asked where their office was so that I could best file my complaint with the CFPB and they said " XXXX ''. I asked, " XXXX? That's not an address ''. They put me on hold. They came back and gave me a XXXX XXXX XXXX to address complaints to. ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). I confirmed that I would be getting a cancellation confirmation in writing in the mail and ended the call.
