There was an issue with an overpayment ( double payment made ) being applied to my credit card account in XXXX with Synchrony bank. The bank sent a refund check ; however, I did not received the original check. I called the bank and they re-issued another refund check. On XX/XX/XXXX I received the re-issued refund check in the amount of {$3600.00}. As of XX/XX/XXXX I received an e-statement by email from Synchrony stating my current balance is {$3600.00} with a minimum payment of {$37.00} due on XX/XX/XXXX. The credit amount that was originally showing on my credit card account was due to an over-payment by me and a refund should rightfully be given to me. It appears that Synchrony bank as added the amount back to my credit card account and it's now showing a balance. I am not sure how this error could have taken place but this needs to be rectified quickly. The issue I have is this balance has now been reported to the 3 major credit reporting agencies for this statement period. This error has adversely affected my credit score/rating as my score has now decreased. Other creditors may see this decrease in score and it my impact their decision in weighing my creditworthiness.
