On XX/XX/2021, I applied for the Citi Custom Cash credit card directly through the Citibank website ( as I feel it's more secure that way ) after seeing an advertisement for it on XXXX XXXX. The advertisement on XXXX XXXX read and still reads that you will receive {$300.00} worth of points after spending {$1000.00} in the first three months. I reasonably assumed this would be the same offer I would receive after applying directly through the Citibank website. After being approved and receiving the card, I found out that Citibank had changed the terms of what they had shown in their advertisement and reduced the promotion to only {$200.00} worth of points after spending {$750.00} in the first three months. I chatted with and called Citi support and was told nothing could be done to change the promotion to the one which was shown in the advertisement for no reason except that they're " unable to. '' I even elevated my request to a supervisor and was told the same thing. This is a classic bait-and-switch and Citi should be disciplined for this, especially since they are refusing to make good on their advertisement.
