XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX : ( XXXX ) XXXX Toll Free : ( XXXX ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, GA XXXX XX/XX/XXXX I received a phone call from a unknown number on my caller id. They left a voicemail on my phone and then called my husbands phone and left a voicemail. I called and the gentleman I spoke with name was XXXX. It was a lady who had left the voicemail stating a notice of intent coming out of my county XXXX XXXX ) her name was XXXX XXXX and told if I did not respond they would move forward with action against me. When I called he told me it was in regards to a debt from a credit card from XXXX. I asked about the statue of limitations and he said it didnt apply to this because it was filed in XXXX. I told him I could settle because he told me that court costs would be over {$7000.00} in attorney and court fees and the amount owed was {$1900.00}. I said I could set up {$50.00} payments. He emailed me two documents. I signed the first one stating the conditions of the agreement and when I got to the second document to input my card information my husband had seen online that it was a potential fraudulent company. I hesitated and did not fill out the form. I would gladly pay the debt if it is credible law firm. But when I looked on my credit karma app, I could not see any amount owed from this citi card on my credit report from XXXX. So Im trying to verify this companys authenticity before I input any credit card information. I hung up due to my phone dying and called the local phone number that was on the webpage and that was different than the toll free number in the voicemail which this guy answered both. And he wanted to stay on the line with me while I input my credit card info. He called me and left a voicemail saying they would only be there today until XXXX and wanted to take a deposit today. But they called me again at XXXX to collect deposit. Initially he did not tell me what credit company he was calling to collect. I had to prompt him. I was not given any indication of a recorded line, account information ect only a 6 digit reference number. I did not complete the second form to turn in my credit card information. I would like to verify it is a legitimate company attempting to collect a legitimate debt.
