Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/2021 I made a cash deposit of {$260.00} into a local Bank of America ATM I frequently use. Almost two weeks later on XX/XX/2021 {$260.00} was deducted from my account with the message " ATM Deposit on XX/XX/2021 totaling XXXX had a shortage in currency. XXXX. '' Surprised and confused I immediately called Bank of America to file a dispute as this is the first time this has happened in the many years I've made deposits with the bank ATMs. A temporary credit for {$260.00} was issued to me while they 'investigated " the issue. I assumed this would be resolved after filing the dispute claim but on XX/XX/2021 the temporary credit was reversed and the investigation didn't find I was owed the {$260.00} cash deposit. I am in bewilderment at how a regular cash deposit which is counted by an ATM is not enough evidence of a transaction. There are cameras at the ATM which can confirm the deposit. If there was truly a 'shortage in currency ' as they stated, why wasn't I returned the money I did deposit. I don't want to assume foul play on their end but I have no idea what measures they took to investigate the matter. I am still owed the money I deposited but the claims department and in-person branch is giving me the run around.
