My wife tried to use my Dicks rewards points when making a purchase without me at the store. My wife thought my dicks rewards covered the bill, but the store clerk supposedly opened up a credit card in my name without my approval or being present. My wife did not ask to open a card. This is illegal! I had no idea a card was open in my name with a {$150.00} balance. I did not know I had the card for a while till I opened up a bill later from dicks. I called dicks and reported the card as fraud, asked it to be cancelled. After working with fraud department and and talking to my wife I figured out what happened. My wife is an XXXX not a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX She can afford to buy anything she wants. Synchrony told me that they would freeze the account and may reimburse me. I the end, I ended up having to pay {$240.00} for a {$150.00} bill on a card I did not open or want to stop the synchrony fees. I could not pay the card balance while the fraud investigation went on per Synchrony, but they stuck me with fees at the end. A store employee should not be able to open a credit card in someone's name without their approval or being present. Synchrony should not assess fees and interest on a card I can't pay off in an investigation. Synchrony should not have wasted many hours of my time in phone loops, back and forth between their teams and hang ups. I was ripped off.
