Consumer Narrative

I closed on my new house on XX/XX/XXXX with a first payment due on XX/XX/XXXX. I made the first payment to my original mortgage company, XXXXXXXX XXXX, on XX/XX/XXXX, 7 days early. The mortgage was then sold to Chase Bank effective XX/XX/XXXX. I immediately set up autopay with Chase for the future payments after seeing it attach to my existing Chase account. Chase did not have the information about my first payment, and I received a statement saying that the payment was overdue. I spent an hour or two trying to reach a customer service agent who informed me that this happens when mortgages get transferred, and that it was likely nothing to worry about. He suggested calling the original company to verify that they had the payment and would be submitting it to Chase. I spent another hour confirming it. The collection calls from Chase started the next day. After waiting on hold to talk to an agent, and then a supervisor, they just want me to disregard their phone calls saying my mortgage is overdue. XXXX XXXX, a supervisor for the collections desk, tells me that these collection calls are part of standard policy, even in my circumstance. I'm 100 % certain those calls and the notice they sent will be used as evidence if they try to foreclose - how can I possibly " disregard '' them? I have paid my mortgage, and they're harrassing me for a payment. I had nothing to do with them buying the loan from the original company. I had no say in whether the information transferred correctly. They've made it clear that they KNOW that this happens in error. Knowingly calling to collect a debt that is not owed, particularly when my home is at stake, is harassment at best.
