While in the process of purchasing an airline ticket on XXXX XXXX, an offer from Citibank appeared stating that I could apply instantly for a AA Rewards card with a {$250.00} credit and 40,000 rewards miles. It stated, " Don't worry, you will be able to continue your ticket purchase using the new card. '' In reality, a week went by before I was phoned and given approval and told that I could not use the card until I received it by mail in two weeks. I contacted customer service and asked if they could a ) provide the number and expiration date so I could use the card b ) allow me to temporarily purchase the ticket with my other Citibank card and then switch the payment or c ) expedite my receiving the card by sending it overnight. I was advised that no one knows my card number or can convey it to me, and no expedited mailing is possible. The ticket I planned to purchase will increase in price if I wait two weeks to buy it. Citibank offered no resolution after I suggested the solutions I would have accepted as a resolution to this.
