While checking my XXXX credit report I noticed a hard inquiry from Bank of America, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, TX XXXX. The phone number given was ( XXXX ) XXXX. I have not requested a credit card of any type of credit from this bank. I called the number and was asked to provide my social security number or account number. I tried to speak with a person but was unable to do so. I contacted XXXX via their online chat and was told I couldn't resolve inquiries through XXXX. I was told to contact the company. As I suspected I would not get " help '' without providing personal information to a company I suspected of being a scam I refused to do this. I am at a loss. I did not request credit from this company and don't know how they got enough info on me to place a hard inquiry on my credit file. An internet search did not settle the matter. Many say the phone number is for a scam, but others say it is legit. Other than monitoring my credit file to see if something new appears from this bank, I don't know what to do.
