Good Morning, I am filing a CFPB complaint against CitiBank. Around XX/XX/2021 ( plus/minus 2 days ), I applied for a CitiBank deposit account online. Upon completing the application, the webpage said that my application needed to be reviewed. The next day, I called CitiBank to get an update of the application status. The employee said that he saw the account was opened and then immediately closed by CitiBank. He then invited me to re-apply over the phone, which we did at that moment. Upon him finishing the application, he said that the account could not be open. He provided me with a new accounts servicing department phone number to get more information, which was closed at that moment ( it was the evening hours when I called ). I then called the new accounts servicing department a day or two later, and they said that they can not verbally tell me any information, aside that I would need to wait for a letter via XXXX that would be dated XX/XX/2021. On approximately XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter in the mail from CitiBank, but it was a letter that did not provide me with any meaningful information regarding the issue at hand. ( see attachment image ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I called CitiBank again for more information, and was transferred around and spoke to 4 different people. When I got to the fourth person, they said the " system was down '' and they were unable to assist me. I believe that CitiBank has been acting inappropriately and in bad faith, as they have refused to provide timely information to me as they originally promised. I am seeking to get the information as to why the account was opened and then immediately closed. There is written evidence the account was opened in the attached letter that was dated XX/XX/XXXX ; note the last four digits of a debit card that is in the upper left corner.
