I'm a XXXX for a volunteering nonprofit from XXXX, Florida that supports a lot of other charities with donations. We had about {$6200.00} in our account. About two weeks ago I got a call from one of their customer reps saying that I needed to come to verify the proof of the lease on our po box address ( a voicemail I listened to prior to coming in ). This was an issue caused by Chase improperly setting up the business banking account, when it was opened a month ago. I came to fix the issue on XX/XX/2021, and their rep informed me that the account has been closed. Then, she brings over the branch manager who proceeds to lie to me that I was informed that the account would be closed, if I didn't bring the proof of lease in a certain amount of time ( I still have the voicemail on the phone that does not mention that ). She then tells me that the check will be shipped out for the balance of the account, and that there is no possibility of reopening of the original, but that I could open a new one. At this point, hearing enough maltreatment, I just walked out. I then spend two hours climbing the tower of phone customer reps to get to the one who deals with extreme cases like mine. She tells me that she understands my justified frustration, and that she will inform her supervisor of this, but that she can do nothing for me ( except for opening a new account, after I get the check ). She also informed me that the bank does not inform accountholders of account closure, which is a terrible practice. I could have been writing worthless checks and not even know it. We still haven't received the check ( it's been 9 days ), so I can't even open a new account with another bank. Holding on to our money, after they closed the account is theft.
