On Wednesday, XX/XX/2021 at the chase bank located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX I entered the branch to cash a check from my employer drawn on Chase bank. At the time my Chase checking account was overdrawn approximately {$60.00}. The teller refused to cash the check from my employer - drawn on Chase bank and from an account with available funds to cover the check - because my account was overdrawn. I asked for the branch manager to get involved. After explaining the situation to the branch manager, again my request cash the check was refused by the bank. Furthermore, the branch manager refused my request to contact the internal compliance auditor for their area to verify the practice he was implying was legal as I informed him it was illegal per my experience working as a branch manager for XXXX Bank in Texas and a service manager and banker for XXXX XXXX in years prior. The bank forced me to deposit the check in my account although it was drawn on Chase to cover the overdrawn amount prior to receiving any funds. The bank took my money hostage. The branch manager refused to double check the practices he was employing were compliant with regulations despite being cautioned that the practices were illegal.. This is not OK.
