On XX/XX/2021, I received an electronic letter from Citi Bank informing me that theyve closed my credit cards, the cited reason is : We frequently review cardmember credit reports, a recent review of yours shows you have too many open revolving credit accounts. I found this action to be unfair, the cited reason is not correct and deceptive. My credit score is EXCELLENTXXXX, my credit card utilization is consistently less than 1 %, I pay all my balances in full each month, Ive had 4 car loans, my payment history is flawless, no missed, late, or returned payment ever. The last credit card I opened was more than 6 months ago. In fact, I didnt use my Citi Bank credit cards for months until last month after which Citi Bank offered me a Flex Loan, its a personal loan against my credit card line of credit. Unfortunately, I accepted the offer and from what I read online about other customers RECENT experience with Citi Bank, thiss what flagged my accounts for closure. It looks like Citi Bank has been sending Flex Loan offers to its customers only to shut their accounts down after they accept the offer. I personally have been receiving this deceptive offer from Citi Bank by mail, email, and through my online banking for years. I even received another offer last week from them even though I already accepted one. Im confident that the CFPB will be receiving more complaints about this same issue in the coming days.
