I made a purchase at XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, IL on XX/XX/. I was asked to apply for a credit card. To my surprise my old credit card was no longer valid. I was in the store nearly two hours waiting. The result ended in no response because their system was not functioning. I paid for my items and left the store. I was in the store from approximately XXXX to XXXX XXXX. I did not hear anymore from XXXX XXXX. I checked my credit report with XXXX XXXX XX/XX/. I noticed a credit inquiry dated XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ). I contacted XXXX XXXX regarding this hard inquiry late XXXX XX/XX/. The female representative was very rude. She told me that I had been rejected for a credit card. She could not provide a reason. She also could not tell me when this rejection was approved. I contacted XXXX XXXX again early XX/XX/XXXX and I was told that I was rejected for a credit card on XX/XX/. Again the representative was not sure why the rejection occurred. This representative was much more professional than the previous person. She could not understand why an inquiry made on XX/XX/XXXX was not determined ( rejected ) until XX/XX/. I had not given XXXX XXXX permission to check my credit after my in-store application on XX/XX/2021. I was surprised to see that the actual date of the credit check was XX/XX/2021 after I was told that nothing went through. The credit department at XXXX XXXX explained that they were understaffed and apologized for the long wait on XX/XX/2021. I want this hard inquiry removed from my credit report because this is fraudulent on XXXX XXXX 's part.
