I recently signed up ( less than a month ago XX/XX/2021 ) for Bank of America.s XXXX credit card promising benefits upon purchase of an XXXX ticket. I was extremely disappointed not to get any of the benefits upon purchase. Such as an automatic upgrade. I called BoA and XXXX. They could not give me those benefits. XXXX said I must wait until I get my card even though the advertisement was for immediate benefits. Despite these issues I kept the card, and a few weeks later, I went to pay my Bank of America bill. Upon viewing my account, I found BoA had already charged me an Annual fee of around XXXX dollars. I found this quite inappropriate, because I havent had the account even a month or even received the card in the mail. It seems unethical and unfair to charge an annual fee in the first billing cycle, especially because BoA had never declared this in writing. In addition the annual fee name is deliberately misleading to customers, who would assume, like other credit cards, the fee would be charged approximately 1 year past opening the account. I called BoA and they said there was nothing they could do. I find these practices misleading and unethical.
