I was looking to move to XXXX XXXX for my graduate program and found an ad on XXXX that seemed legit. I submitted an email application and was told the remaining documents would be mailed. This started Sunday, XXXX XXXX when I received a response back. On Monday, XX/XX/2021 I was called and asked if I was ready to accept this housing opportunity. I had mentioned I was waiting on other responses from other locations and pressured me to give a response. I was asked to send money through XXXX to email XXXX who has a bank account with Chase because it went through. I did not realize it was a scam until this weekend and when I was demanding a refund Friday, XX/XX/2021, The XXXX person was becoming hesitant and trying to make me pity him because his attorney had found someone else who would pay a larger sum of rent in advance. I was calling him out and unfortunately, I had already lost a large sum of money equaling to {$2900.00}.
