I have several Citibank credit cards, all of which have rewards programs. On my Citi Dividend World Mastercard my XX/XX/21 statement listed {$200.00} in cash rewards. Several days later I received a letter from Citibank stating that the card was being converted to a different rewards program -- the Citi Rewards+ Mastercard -- and that as a consequence my existing rewards where no longer available. I accept Citibank 's decision to change the program, but I feel like they had an obligation to allow me to collect my accumulated rewards before their elimination. To the best of my recollection, I had no warning of this impending change or the impact on my rewards. My habit had been to covert those rewards on an annual basis -- I regarded the rewards as a sort of savings account. It occurs to me that in appropriating these funds, Citibank has taken many thousands of dollars away from customers enrolled in the program. On XX/XX/21 I called my card 's customer support number to complain. The agent consulted with his manager, who authorized {$100.00} credit as a good will gesture. I accepted this offer ( perhaps relinquishing subsequent claims, this was not made explicit ) with the notion that halfway to a solution was better than nothing. But in my mind they still owe me money. And how many more customers are there in the same boat who may not complain because the amounts owed are not worth their time and effort?
