I applied to refinance my mortgage with Better Mortgage on XXXX. I was charged the appraisal fee on XXXX, and they're website showed that the appraisal has been ordered. I didn't get any calls from any appraisers, and on XX/XX/XXXX, I sent them an old appraisal ( from XX/XX/2021 ) to see if it can be used in lieu of having to get a new one. I don't hear back from them until XX/XX/XXXX when I'm stated that they can't reach anyone at the bank that did the appraisal. Evidently they worked on this for two weeks. On that same day ( XX/XX/2021 ) I told the adviser to go ahead and order a new appraisal. A week later, I emailed and informed him that no one contacted me to do the appraisal. I was told to wait. Closing was supposed to take place by XX/XX/2021. On XXXX, still no word from an appraiser, the Better Mortgage Adviser emails me stating that I would have to reapply or pay for the lock extension. In the mean time, I submitted hundreds of pages of documents that were asked of me in support of my application, uploaded all of them without any delay, and their web page that with my progress dashboard, kept showing that everything is on track throughout the whole process. I feel that they could have easily obtained a new appraisal had they ordered it when they were supposed to. I feel that they waited too long ( nearly two weeks ), for a response from the other lender. Even to this day ( XX/XX/2021 ), I have not heard from an appraiser. I refinanced or took out new mortgages multiple times over the years, and as recent as XX/XX/2021, and always received a call with a day or two of paying the appraisal fee from an eager home appraising company. I feel that Better should honor the original terms of my refinance application, and complete the loan closing without charging me extra fees.
