IQ International suddenly appeared on my XXXX XXXX report, which I check weekly, in the amount of {$1900.00}. They never sent me a letter or phoned to say this was owed. Apparently, this stemmed from an apartment that my significant other, XXXX XXXX, and I moved into with XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. When the covid flu became widespread, and XXXX XXXX closed all the common amenities, they allowed us to move out in XXXX, XXXX. We would not owe any further rent upon rental to another family, they said, and in fact did rent to another family as of XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX XXXX employee, XXXX XXXX, who rented to us ( and received our keys upon departing ), sent us a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX verifying that the new renters were there as of XX/XX/XXXX. When the IQ collections contacted XXXX in XXXX, XXXX, she told XXXX XXXX who reiterated that we did not owe anything to them or any collections agency. In addition, they volunteered that they had dropped IQ International as a collection company due to so many complaints. IQ International continued to harass XXXX by phone and mail until late XXXX, when they apparently stopped when she complained to CFPB. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I saw that IQ International showed up on my credit report ( I look at it weekly via XXXX XXXX as I'm working on getting my credit scores higher ). I have not been late on any bill for a number of years so this stood out. Please help me straighten this out as XXXX XXXX appears to be concocting a fake claim.
