GM Financial reported to credit agencies that I was late on my final payment of {$540.00} for lease account # XXXX. I did not fail to make these payments. The DEALER failed to make these payments. Please see the attached default letter in which the sales manager at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX writes : Please recognize this default letter as an effort to correct or remove any delinquent information on account number : XXXX, Mr. XXXX XXXX. Mr. XXXX grounded his lease in XXXX, fully understanding he would not be responsible for his last two payments in the amount of {$540.00}. He turned in his lease vehicle on the XXXX of XX/XX/2021. I failed to process the necessary documents through our accounting department, which caused the delay in paying off the lease. Attached you will find a copy of the payoff check that has been sent to settle the account. Please contact me in the event there is additional information needed to correct this account. My efforts to resolve this directly with GM Financial failed. Ten phone calls over a three-month period led me to an " accounts '' department that was reportedly obligated to respond to my written compliant within 30 days. They did not respond within 30 days. Therefore I am escalating my complaint with the CFPB. When XXXX customers are in the process of leasing a new vehicle, the dealer and GM Financial present a united front. That united front should continue even when the dealer makes a mistake like this. Because I assumed as much, my credit score dropped from " Very Good '' to " Fair ''. I feel penalized for having faith in GM Financial 's business processes. They need to make this right and rescind the information they provided to credit agencies.
