I had a TCF bank checking account. However, somebody stole my identity and money was taken from my account and made it go negative. I notified TCF and they conducted an investigation. They concluded the investigation and said all I needed to do was sign a notarized affidavit with my signature. Once I did that I heard nothing back. My account was still in overdraft negative $ XXXX. I called back and they said nothing can be done because it was already sent to a collection agency. I told the fraud expert that I completed exactly what the branch manager at my local location needed me to complete and signed the affidavit saying I was a victim of fraud and IDENTITY THEFT! The fraud department said there was nothing they could do because it was already sent to collections. I told them that they are reporting false info to the credit bureau. ( XXXX XXXX XXXX IS THE NAME ) That false information has made it impossible to get a bank account anywhere else. Ive contacted XXXX and they did their own investigation and I told them all the facts as well as let them know I signed a notarized affidavit. However the investigation concluded the info documented on XXXX was correct. I was saddened and it feels I have nowhere to turn. I feel like the bank is making a personal effort to take the negative situation that happened to me and blamed me for it. XXXX does not want to remove the false info.
