Consumer Narrative
Received a text message on XX/XX/XXXX asking whether I attempted to purchase {$500.00} at XXXX XXXXXXXX which I replied 'NO '. Got a text message back stating a new card will be sent out. I called them back stating my Mom 's credit card was stolen from her wallet along with my sister debit card. Not only {$500.00} from XXXX XXXX was charged to my account but {$2900.00} was charged from XXXX XXXX. I called about this fraudulent charges and was told they would note the account and investigate. I called them back after not hearing from them for 3 weeks. I was told they need to escalate and reopen the investigation for additional 10 -15 business days. I called them again pressing on the status since those charges were still in my account. Several days later, my Mom, a Chase XXXX and I were in a conference call detailing the theft incident. Several more weeks pass and was told by Chase those charges were valid and they will remain in my account. Huh?! What investigation and how did you come up with that decision? Of course, no reason was given and now it is up to ME to do all the investigation, provide documentation to prove my innocence. I had to ask my sister and my XXXX yr mother now to go to the police station to file a police report. A police report was filed on XX/XX/XXXX detailing the incident and now it is being investigated by the XXXX Police Dept in XXXX XXXX, NJ ( case # ; XXXX ). I had spoken with XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX from Chase. None of them would give their last name or provide a direct number to call, so everytime you call Chase, you need to tell the WHOLE story again even though it was escalated at least 3 times. So in the meantime, there are those 2 charges that are fraudulent in my account and Chase stipulating those charges were found to be valid according to their 'investigation '. They did not investigate ANYTHING besides the thief that stole the card made the purchase at those stores. No signature receipt, no photo/video survaillence or anything. It is now up to the Police Dept to go to those store and demand surveaillance to show our innocence. This is unbelievable and the incompetence to Chase is shameful. Basically, they accuse you being guilty until you are proven innocent, leave all the legwork to be done by you and claim they did their investigation to claim their findings without an explanation. This institution is incompetent to say the least.
