Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/XXXX, I discovered multiple unauthorized transfer-outs from my checking account, two of these are large wire transfers of {$8900.00} and {$8500.00}. Also on the same day, my husbands phone number was hacked, someone called XXXX and had his phone number transferred to their SIM card, so he couldnt use his phone number at all that day. We suspect that the thief could do the 'forgot password ' function and use my husband 's phone number to change the password and log on to our joint online banking accounts and transfer our money out. But it's just our guess because the SIM card hack and the unauthorized transactions occur on the same day. On my husband 's bank account, on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, there are also unauthorized payments to a bar and places in XXXX which are totally not done by us as we live is CA, USA. This is clearly an incident of identity theft. We immediately reported to Chase on XX/XX/XXXX, it has been almost 2 months for Chase to do their investigation and we have not heard any updates from them. Chase has not refunded the money from the two large wire transfers. When we called their fraud department ( which we have been doing many times ), we kept being told the same thing that the claims are still in process. This is clearly an incident of identity theft and we would do anything to prove that these transactions weren't done by us, however, we haven't received any form of communication from Chase, not a single phone call. Our bank accounts are deprived of fund. We desperately need our money back and we have been giving Chase almost 2 months to fulfill their customer protection responsibility and refund our money. We need answer. We need our money back. We would do anything to be able to get our money back, including suing Chase for their incompetence in customer protection, as {$17000.00} is almost our entire life saving. We would appreciate any help. ( the attachment is proof of XXXX notification that the SIM card was changed on XX/XX/XXXX )
