On XX/XX/XXXX, I took out a flex loan from Citi through my double cash card. When I saw the payment due in the Citi app and looked at my payment options, there was an option to pay my XXXX statement balance plus the minimum for the flex loan. The description reads " This includes your monthly Flex Plan Amount and the non-Flex Plan portion of your last statement balance, it does not include Flex Plan payments due in future months. '' With that option, I paid {$1400.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, with the impression that would pay the minimum on the loan of {$72.00} and statement balance of {$1300.00}. I just reviewed my XXXX statement on XX/XX/XXXX and and my statement balance is now {$2000.00} even though I only charged {$740.00}. I called Citi and was told that my payments are applied to the highest interest balances first, which is my flex loan which has an APR of XXXX compared to my purchase APR which is a promo rate of XXXX. I was just planning to pay my statement in full with the minimum on the loan each month, but now my statement had snowballed into a larger amount that is not affordable.
