I had purchased a Netspend debit card from XXXX for {$20.00}. Unable to use or activate. Calling their help # multiple times repeatedly disconnected or unwilling to help- they keep saying " card # not found '' and have me entering full 9 digit social security number, date of birth, full name ( spell it out ), address ( spell it out ) ... and at one point I realized this is a fishing attempt and they should not be asking these type of personal questions. If they were a legitimate company they could easily have looked up my credit report with my name, SS # ( most companies just ask for last 4 digits- I had to provide the complete SS # ) and DOB , and then i realized the mistake. I asked them to delete/cancel completely my account ( I'd rather loose the {$20.00} then have my identity used for nefarious purposes ). They had then the gall to ask me to send/fax a copy of my driver license, social security card, passport etc. It's pretty shady and I have no idea what nefarious purposes they will put the info i already provided naively.
