Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/2021, I was on the telephone regarding a refund on an item I never received. I noticed at the top of my telephone, many numbers and began to feel uncomfortable with the line of question the person was asking so I promptly hung up. I then went about my daily checklist on my phone and opened the Bank of America XXXX and to my horror {$1.00}, XXXX had been taken out of my checking account by an unknown person to me by a XXXX transaction to XXXX Conf. # XXXX. I called and spoke to a Bank of America customer service person and a claim for scam was filed. I called again to get a progress report and that I would be notified. During a conversation with the representative, I realized that it should have been a Fraud report as I had not authorized the transaction. I explained that it was all the money that I had and had been scrimping to save it as I wanted to go home to be near my children and grandchildren as I am elderly and XXXX and live all alone with no support or help in an emergency. The following day, an additional {$310.00} was taken out again using an ATM again by someone unknown to me. I was given a temporary credit and apparently the person was located because this amount became permanent. I contacted Bank of America again on XX/XX/XXXX only to be told that they could not find any fraud complaint on my behalf. I then filed another fraud complaint on the XXXX of XXXX with XXXX representatives, XXXX from Texas and the other from Maryland. On XX/XX/2021, Once again I called and once again I had to file another fraud complaint as the one filed on the XXXX on the month of XXXX also could not be found. This new fraud complaint is # XXXX. That was the last time that I contacted Bank of America as this has all affected my health very, very badly. I need help, someone to speak and fight this on my behalf. I will be XXXX years old in two months and have very serious health issues. I feel as the bank is protecting the bank and what may seem a small amount of money is my entire savings and ultimately my way of going back home. Without this money, I am lost and will have to remain living alone and in misery. Please know that I appreciate anything that you can do to help me. My daughter in law had the exact thing happen to her and she too was with Bank of America but you managed to get her money back for her. This is why I am turning to you. I am just too tired and too sick to fight anymore. Thank you, XXXX XXXX
