Consumer Narrative

I paid a retainer to a law firm on XX/XX/XXXX after having a XXXX call with several representatives of this law firm that said that they could offer legal representation on my family law court case filed in XXXX. After payment of the retainer fee I realized after talking and texting to representatives of this law firm that I was mislead to the services that I would be receiving and purpose of engagement could not be fulfilled and the issue was not addressed that I already had another attorney that they did not contact as they said they would. I used four different credit cards to pay this retainer. I filed a dispute with the 4 different credit cards and two of them were with Chase. One credit card I used was an XXXX XXXX XXXX card and the dispute was final with a provisional credit issued to my account. When I filed the dispute claim they said it was good that I paid with a credit card. I have been speaking with several representatives from Chase over the course of the last few months.. I was thanked for being such a good customer a few times. I sent in documentation as requested which was really just my pleas to possibly get this law firm exposed as a scam. I have heard different things during this process - my fee paid non refundable ; significant time has passed - merchant not required to credit, took place too long ago ; bank not allowed to file claim ; and the merchant made services available for my use. I asked for an invoice from the law firm that is supposed to be provided if there is a service rendered and then deducted from the retainer fee but that can not be provided because there were no legal services provided. I even contacted XXXX to file an arbitration claim which is in the Chase cardmember agreement but never heard back from them. My last discussion with a supervisor in Chase 's dispute department uncovered that Chase has no process in effect to dispute lawyer fees paid. I have received recorded calls from Chase to pay my past due balance with includes late fees and interest charges on one account where the dispute is now closed. The other Chase account dispute is also closed but I have not been billed a late fee or interest charges and there has been no contact to pay my past due balance. My account has always been paid on time and with full balance paid each month but I now have a balance of just the disputed amounts and fees.
