I received a call from someone stating that I owed Providian XXXXXXXX XXXX and they would like to collect. I knew it had to be a scam because I haven't had a Providian account in over 20 years. I recently bought a house with a FHA loan and there is no way I could have gotten approved with that bad debt. I told the gentleman that he had the wrong information and that my account with Providian was never that high years ago. A few weeks later the collection showed up on my XXXX XXXX report only. I disputed the collection by internet and by phone and both times XXXX XXXX said the debt was valid and it will stay on my credit. No other bureaus or XXXX XXXX has shown a Providian account on my credit good or bad in the last 20 years so how can I prove it's not valid when they say that it is. I am requesting help to have it removed immediately and fine them according to the rules.
